Traceys Floral Creations
As a single mother, Tracey's parenting allowance was terminated when her daughter turned 16. At this time Tracey was faced with having to find immediate employment to meet her financial commitments. Still wanting to remain at home as much as possible but needing an income to support her family, she was recommended to look into the NEIS Program by friends.
Tracey's initial idea of offering Bookkeeping Services, something she had studied at an earlier age, seemed like a great way to work from home, support her family and still be available for her daughter.
Having this previous experience meant Tracey was aware of what accounting requirements were needed of her as a small business owner.
It was the other components of running a small business that Tracey was unsure of. The NEIS program provided Tracey with the foundation to start up her business from home by highlighting her responsibilities as a small business owner. The financial assistance also reduced the stress involved in having to support her family.
Nine months after commencing her business, Tracey was not completely convinced she was suited to providing just Bookkeeping Services and looked to the staff at Wells & Associates for advice.
Tracey knew that a Flower Arranging business, something she had tried with a partner many years ago, would allow her the same flexibility as her Bookkeeping business as well as allowing her to do something she truly was passionate about.
Feeling unsure about making such a big change, she reviewed her NEIS modules and came to the conclusion that there was a market available for her services. It was then that a second business plan was developed based on this new idea.
After three months, Tracey felt like a new person building a business she loves doing and constantly on the look out for new 'flower creation' opportunities.
Tracey's Floral Creations offer long lasting silk and artificial flower decorations for the office and home. A big part of Tracey's small business is the introduction of her Party Plan - group parties hosted by her to promote and take orders for her services.
